James Gary was mentored by pianist Ilana Myslor and was selected to be staff-pianist and piano-soloist for the San Diego Youth Symphony. He graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with a degree in piano Performance and a minor in piano pedagogy. James soon after opened his music studio in San Diego and works with piano students at all levels, including some who have won and placed in competitions and other events. Mr. Gary has concertized and appeared as piano-soloist in five countries, notably on BBC radio. James derives much pleasure in mentoring others, and has served as adjudicator for piano competitions and other events for over twenty years.
