MUSIC, HEALTH & WELLNESS

What is Music Therapy?

Music therapy is an allied health profession where the music therapist uses musical experiences and activities therapeutically to address physical, psychological, cognitive and/or social functioning. It is a process of intervention where musical experiences foster a therapist-client relationship that can provide support, healing, and empowerment. Because music is a powerful and non-invasive medium, unique outcomes are possible which can benefit clients, family members, and support staff.

MUSIC THERAPY SERVICES AT GREENE MUSIC

As part of our commitment to serving the community, our staff includes a board certified music therapist, Philip “Jay Jay” Lim, MT-BC. Since 1999, we have offered music therapy to the greater San Diego County Area. Our emphasis lies in group music therapy with the older adult population, and we currently serve retirement facilities and day programs including: Fredericka Manor, The Arbors at Rancho Penasquitos, Summerville at Clairemont Mesa Valley Grove Senior Day Program, and Carlsbad by the Sea. Our program continues to expand, was we are now serving well older adults through group daytime piano instruction with a wellness component, and we have recently started to offer individual music therapy to children.
